Petra, Jordan
Petra is an ancient archaeological city located in southern Jordan. Known as the “Rose City” because of the color of the stone from which it is carved, Petra was once the thriving capital of the Nabataean Kingdom around the 4th century BC. The city is famous for its rock-cut architecture and complex water management system. Its most iconic structure is Al-Khazneh, also known as “The Treasury,” with its magnificent carved façade. Petra remained hidden to the Western world until it was rediscovered in 1812. Today, Petra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
